Bisen are the Suryavanshi Rajputs. They are found in the provinces of Himanchal pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. They are a powerful and an ancient Rajput clan (Raj Vansha) named after Raja Birsen(hence Bisen) of suket kingdom (H.P) and have several kingdoms in the northern plains of India. They are a brave, generous, land-owning (zamindar) clan. Raja Prithvi Mull of Majhauli was the ancestor of the Bisen dynasty.

- Mankapur (District Gonda)Mankapur taluka was a jagir (estate) formed when Raja Dutt Singh of Gonda, of Bisen Rajput dynasty, seized the Bandhalgoti rai of Mankapur and gave it to his younger infant son, Kunwar Ajmat Singh around 1681, making him the first ruler of the state. The state had 189 villages under it and during the British Raj, it was a pargana in Utraula tehsil . It became a separate tehsil in 1987, later in 1997 when the Gonda district was bifurcated to create Balrampur district, it remained with its former district.
